About the Monument

The design of the monument is now finalized. It will include the following:

• A central 40' x 40' area with the sculpture depicted in the Photo Gallery
• Recognition of the six service branches: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Mariners
  • Recognition will be with a flagpoles and a service flag and a POW-MIA pole and flag.
  • Six seals will be on the base of the sculpture
  • A dedication plaque and a KIA plaque will also be on the base
• Seating will be available for individuals or small groups, school groups will be addressed by a veteran
• Assembly area for large groups at specific events
• The moonument and flags will be lighted from dusk 'til dawn

Location

The location will be Castle Rock, CO. A Monument Plaza will be at the corner of Wilcox and Fourth Street on the same ground where the historic Douglas County Court House stood for many years.

Funding the Monument

Support for the monument is from residents of Douglas County and others across America. A donation can be a financial gift or an in-kind contribution of materials or worker assistance with construction. Gifts for specific items for the monument, e.g., flag poles, flags, branch of service seals, etc. are possible. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, all gifts are tax deductible as allowed under the law.
